The on-line version of the “Spotlight Casting Directory” now gives you the chance to add voice clips to your listings. It’s not the place for a full voiceover demo, but it’s a FAB way for casting directors to quickly get an idea about your vocal “acting” ability and see if your voice and face fit their project. If you’ve no existing material to edit from, you will obviously need to record your “Spotlight Clips” from the very beginning. Not a problem. We’ll take good care of you and guide you through the whole recording process. We’ve had many satisfied clients over the past 22 years and hope you’ll join them by recording or editing a Showreel that truly represents your vocal ability, individual personality and acting skills.

So what can go on your Spotlight reel?
You can have as many voice clips as you want but not exceeding an overall total of 2 minutes.
But they are a little flexible.
So for example
- You can have a 2 minute montage
- You can have two 1 minute contrasting clips
- You can have four 30 second contrasting clips
- Our “Split” as you wish
Copyright material
The material you choose to record must be copyright FREE, so that Spotlight don’t get into trouble. You can achieve this in a number of ways:
- You can choose material by an author whose work is out of copyright, ie: Dickens or Shakespeare etc
- You could consider writing your own scripts
- You can use published material having obtained clearance from the rights-holder. In our experience, most will say yes to this if you ask nicely
NB: Published works normally go out of copyright at the end of the 70th year after the death of the last surviving author.

The Session
Your Spotlight recording session takes place at our Central London Studios, an area well known for it’s creative energy. All our sessions are relaxed, friendly and intimate as well as on a 1-2-1 basis giving you the personal attention you’ll need to focus on producing your audio clips. We also never let a Demo leave our studios unless we are totally happy that it stands you a chance of getting work. Remember, our Logo goes on every Demo we produce.
We also understand that cost can sometimes be an issue. So if you’re not ready to record one of our “Full” demo packs, then this cost-effective solution is for you. Just book a session with us, bring your scripts and your voice, and enjoy! We’ll record and edit your work, ready for delivery to Spotlight and supply your final clips on a master CD in both WAV and MP3 format. You can also email your MP3 files direct to
Spotlight Pack Terms & Conditions
Ok, apologies about this bit, but it’s important that you know how we run our studios.
- We can’t secure your chosen recording date without payment confirmation. Once your payment has been received, your Spotlight Pack recording date will be in the diary!
- We also require 10 working days notice if you are going to cancel your chosen recording session. Then your deposit will be used to secure a new recording date that suits you. Otherwise unfortunately you will forfeit your deposit payment as your place could have been given to someone else.
