Build, develop and grow your skills learnt from Day 1

Get your own personal repertoire of voices ready for demo recording and agent distribution.

This workshop is the logical progression from day 1 where the elements needed to build character and animation voices were explored and practised. But this time, the skills you acquired will be applied to a range of professional demands. This workshop gives you a more in-depth experience, allowing you to explore, develop and grow more voices, not in the classroom but more importantly from behind the microphone in a working studio environment with professional direction.

Day 1 gave you the ingredients and initial techniques to cook with. Day 2 has you cooking two or three different recipes, using a range of texts and in a working professional studio.

  • Put your new skills from Day One into practise
  • Develop your own personal repertoire of voices
  • Get out of the classroom and behind the mic
  • Copies of your workshop performance to download
  • And much more…..
  • Class size limited to 7 people only
Yvonne has been a vocal coach for over thirty years. She has been involved in actor training for a number of drama schools including being Head of Voice at LAMDA. She is also an Associate with the Royal National Theatre’s Voice Department. Beyond theatre, Yvonne works with journalists, TV and Radio presenters, sports personalities, lawyers, medical specialists, lecturers, teachers and politicians. She co-wrote “More Care For Your Voice” and is currently working on two books: “Building Character Voices – a performers guide” and “In the Beginning” which explores the power of words. She has just been re-elected as a trustee for The Voice Care Network UK.

This workshop will give you more time to develop an individual repertoire of voices to include on your final character/animation demo or to practise further on your personal 1-2-1 training sessions with us. It will also give you the chance to voice-to-picture.

*Unfortunately, you can’t attend this Day 2 Character Workshop unless you have first attended our Day 1 Character Workshop.

What You Need To Bring
Having attended Day 1 you will know to bring a maximum of 2 minutes worth of material to this workshop. This can be a script, audio book, or poem showing at least 3 different voices/characters that you have developed.

Bring loose comfortable clothing, a pencil, water, your body and your voice. This workshop can involve some light activity so please get in touch if you have any concerns.

Don’t see availability on the date you want? Please get in touch to ask to be put on our waiting list. However, please note that when you book, you get the option of asking us to inform you of an earlier date if one becomes available and these people take priority.

I did my drama voice reel with Mike. Mike had obviously thought about each piece before I’d arrived and he was already prepared with some suggestions for musical settings and sound effects, which I had not been expecting. Mike has a strong musical instinct for what is going to work and a massive library at his fingertips. I appreciated how he listened and how he engaged with what I was trying to achieve. It felt like a collaboration and he was both patient and a perfectionist. While I am really looking forward to the final edit, I was delighted with the experience, and I look forward to returning for my next project.
