Build, develop and grow your skills learnt from Day 1

Get your own personal repertoire of voices ready for demo recording and agent distribution.

This online workshop is the logical progression from day 1 where the elements needed to build character and animation voices were explored and practised. But this time, the skills you acquired will be applied to a range of professional demands. This workshop gives you a more in-depth experience, allowing you to explore, develop and grow more voices, not in the classroom but more importantly from behind the microphone in a working studio environment with professional direction.

Day 1 gave you the ingredients and initial techniques to cook with. Day 2 has you cooking two or three different recipes, using a range of texts and in a working professional studio.

  • Put your new skills from Day One into practise
  • Develop your own personal repertoire of voices
  • Get out of the classroom and behind the mic
  • Copies of your workshop performance to download
  • And much more…..
  • Class size limited to 7 people only

Having attended Day 1 you will need to prepare a maximum of 2 minutes worth of material to this workshop. This can be a script, audio book, or poem showing at least 3 different voices/characters that you have developed.

  • You’ll need a stable internet connection
  • A computer, phone or tablet, ideally with a webcam
  • If you currently make Skype or Facetime calls, you should be fine
  • Some headphones would make the experience better
  • We will send you a link that you click and join the remote session. All very easy.
  • The system requirements for Zoom for Mac, PC and Tablets can be found here
Yvonne is an internationally recognised voice teacher with 40 years experience. She is an associate voice coach for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe. Her work for screen and recorded media include the BBC and a wide range of independent producers. She recently co-authored a book for occupational voice users “More Care for Your Voice” and her work in vocal profiling has been used in documentary films and live stage performances where historical dramatic reconstructions have been required. She is currently working on two new books: “Building Character Voices, a performers guide” & “In the Beginning” which explores the power of words.

This online workshop will give you more time to develop an individual repertoire of voices to include on your final character/animation demo or to practise further on your personal 1-2-1 training sessions with us. It will also give you the chance to voice-to-picture.

*Unfortunately, you can’t attend this Day 2 Character Workshop unless you have first attended our Day 1 Character Workshop.

I did my drama voice reel with Mike. Mike had obviously thought about each piece before I’d arrived and he was already prepared with some suggestions for musical settings and sound effects, which I had not been expecting. Mike has a strong musical instinct for what is going to work and a massive library at his fingertips. I appreciated how he listened and how he engaged with what I was trying to achieve. It felt like a collaboration and he was both patient and a perfectionist. While I am really looking forward to the final edit, I was delighted with the experience, and I look forward to returning for my next project.
