Now you too can learn the techniques to recreate any accent.

This ONLINE workshop explores yet more safe ways of manipulating your voice.
Learning a specific accent for Stage, TV or Voiceover is not as easy as it sounds and knowing how to create and sustain them will get you hired again and again. Don’t get left behind, learn the basic skills needed to copy any accent in this new workshop.

Have you ever asked yourself any of these questions?

  • Where do I begin to create real and believable accents?
  • Why do I start well when doing an accent but take a “geographical tour” of other places?
  • What am I listening for when trying to copy an accent?
  • How do I get the right sounds to make it sound believable?
  • What about the different rhythms and tunes in an accent?
  • What about those vowels … and what happens to the consonants?
  • How can I sound “real”? & How do I keep my accent going?

Well if you have, then this workshop is a “MUST” if you want to learn the “secrets” that others would love to learn, and get ahead of your competition. Once again, we are very lucky to have the lovely Yvonne to share her “Vast” Vocal Knowledge” with us at The Showreel.

This one day Intro To Accents Workshop will cover how to approach any accent, practice it and stay believable throughout your performance.

  • How to change your “body talk”
  • How to change your tune and rhythm
  • How to change your tone and vocal “culture”
  • How to change your vowels and consonants
  • It will also help with how to source good samples to work from.
  • Workshop held via Zoom – 2 x 2.5 hour sessions with a 30 min break
  • You’ll need a stable internet connection
  • A computer, phone or tablet, ideally with a webcam
  • If you currently make Skype or Facetime calls, you should be fine
  • Some headphones would make the experience better
  • We will send you a link that you click and join the remote session, and a selection of scripts that we will use on your session. All very easy.
  • The system requirements for Zoom for Mac, PC and Tablets can be found here

I did my drama voice reel with Mike. Mike had obviously thought about each piece before I’d arrived and he was already prepared with some suggestions for musical settings and sound effects, which I had not been expecting. Mike has a strong musical instinct for what is going to work and a massive library at his fingertips. I appreciated how he listened and how he engaged with what I was trying to achieve. It felt like a collaboration and he was both patient and a perfectionist. While I am really looking forward to the final edit, I was delighted with the experience, and I look forward to returning for my next project.
